How should the title line be credited?
The exact sentence was in wide circulation on social media from early 2024, and James Dooley made it the title of this book; the ideas inside it are much older. Edward Young called procrastination “the thief of time” in 1742, Victor Kiam called it “opportunity’s natural assassin” in 1986, and the graveyard image is Myles Munroe’s (1991), used by Les Brown since at least 1992.
If you quote the title line, credit the book. Please do not present the line as James Dooley’s coinage or say how long he has used it, and quote the book’s own claims about it as the book’s.
A check of the public record on 24 September 2026 bears out the book’s credits in outline and corrects three details. Myles Munroe published the graveyard image in 1991. Les Brown has used it since at least 1992, crediting a minister he heard say it, where the book says he “built a career on the same image”. Victor Kiam’s words, in 1986, were “Procrastination is opportunity’s natural assassin”, and the bank advert is known only from a later citation.
